JANN ARDEN: Insensitive

How do you cool your lips
After a summer’s kiss
How do you rid the sweat
After the body bliss
How do you turn your eyes
From the romantic glare
How do you block the sound
Of a voice you’d know anywhere

Oh, I really should have known
By the time you drove me home
By the vagueness in your eyes
Casual good-byes
By the chill in your embrace
The expression on your face
That told me
You might have some advice to give
On how to be
Insensitive

How do you numb your skin
After the warmest touch
How do you slow your blood
After the body rush
How do you free your soul
After you’ve found a friend
How do you teach your heart
It’s a crime to fall in love again

Oh, you probably won’t remember me
It’s probably ancient history
I’m one of the chosen few
Who went ahead and fell for you
I’m out of vogue, I’m out of touch
I fell too fast, I feel too much
I thought that you might have
Some advice to give on how to be
Insensitive

The Scrub Princesses! Posted by Hello

Marching After All!

The Scrub Princesses have successfully defended their MRR!

We were suppose to defend our MRR at 230 this afternoon. At 12 noon we got a call from one of our mentors telling our defense was moved up to 130! Adrenaline kicked in! We barely slept the night before and we haven't ate anything yet coz we were finishing the final revisions requested by our other mentor. We were running like crazy around the room. I really thought we were going to defend without shower too! I even had to call my mom to ask her to buy sugar-free cakes to help our mentors feel at ease -- okay, so we were bribing them with food!

All we had going for us when we entered the conference room was our passion and enthusiasm for our product. I guess we were contagious coz they were very nice to us and instead of asking too much questions, they were giving suggestions! Free consultation! I have to admit, we had blunders, but it wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. The fact that we were defending when others were already warned that they won't be graduating was a relief for us. And our mentors got excited about our concept which they evolved into whole new level!

As expected, we didn't get a clean pass. We still had minor revisions to do. But the hard part is now over. After the defense my body was crying for some rest. I had a long nap as soon as I got home.

We know we will be millionaires. We know Prof. Morato will invite us to speak to his students about our experience. We know they will make a case about our business.

By they way, I would like to thank all the people that prayed for us today. Thank you to our friends and classmates that supported us. And to my mommy for the cakes!

Defensive

Wednesday is our judgement day. Our MRR defense. Will we get a clean pass? Probably not. But I hope we end this agony soon coz I'm on vacation mode already.

Not in a hurry to get a job either. I just want to take a rest from all this stress!

I'm mentally and emotionally drained.

I need a good shopping spree, a week in a beach, a food binge, and a really, really good hug!

Watching from the Sidelines

Now that I have a little bit more time in my hands, I clicked through the blogs linked to mine. Just wondering what's new... thinking, I'll be reduced to being a spectator in their lives. Nobody's fault. No one to blame. People go on their separate ways because they need to find themselves on their own.

I won't be in their weddings, christenings, birthday parties, or simple bonding sessions because I have opted to give up and let go.

Farewell Colayco!

Last image of Enta Room Posted by Hello

Today marks the last day of Colayco. The memories of the next batches of Ateneans will not include Colayco. As it is, there's so many changes in Ateneo already. Tearing down Colayco will definitely obliterate the last few memories I have of my alma mater.

1. I remember Mark, Brian, and I... plus my best friend Elaine who rides with me to school every day, would open Enta room early in the morning because we had to drive our high school brothers to school. This means either breakfast in Jollibee or caf.

2. I remember sleeping on the bench in the Enta room. Looks impossible but actually not.

3. I remember trying to help fill in the septic tank outside the Enta room with cigarette butts. Yes, I was a smoker then.

5. I remember the Enta auditions at the Colayco hall. Jog freeze?! "I Love Ketchup So Much!" and "Ikaskas mo na lang sa pader!"

4. I remember it was in the Colayco sunken garden Tini ended up admitting he liked me. To which I remarked, "Eh may balak ka bang gawin sa like na yan?!" It was good while it lasted.

New friends, old friends, new loves, lost loves, and new passions... people found themselves in Colayco. This was my home for four years. I will never have the chance to bring my children to Ateneo and show them where I spent most of my happiest times in college.

Here's to you Colayco!

ALLELUIAH!!!

At 2pm today, I submitted two bound copies of our thesis. All 150++ pages of it.

But it's not over yet. There's still the revisitions my two mentors will ask us to do. And I'm sure it's going to be the financials. Hello?! This is Conci... accounting and Conci... that's an oxymoron for sure! There also the defense we have yet to schedule.

Tonight, I'll be sleeping well. No dreams about our MRR. No sleepless nights and days. Hopefully my cough and colds will go away as soon as I get enough rest.

For now, I will feel happiness and contentment.
