The blessing that is Manang Turing

When Tini moved with us, he brought with him Manang Turing. Their family's companion since fourth grade. Even after the death of his mom, Manang Turing stayed with him. Now, she's with us and she has made our home a more fulfilling one. Our meals our better... way better! Don't be surprised if I get fat. I rush home after work because dinner is a meal I look forward to. Aside from spending it with my husband of course.

She also sews! Yey! I would love to learn how to sew too. I learned from grade school, I'm a bit rusty.

She's more than a nanny. She's really family. One reason why I married Tini! Hehehe...

Off to lunch. It's igado.

Oh, Heath!

The first news I heard as soon as I turned on my car radio as I drove to work this morning was the death of Heath Ledger. Gawd! He was hot! And he was only 28 years old. From the news report they were alluding to drug OD since pills were found around his body. But it doesn't feel like suicide to me. For one, he scheduled a massage. Second, I don't know about other people but doesn't a child make you want to stay on this Earth longer?! He has a daughter named Matilda with fellow "Brokeback Mountain" star, Michelle Williams. They were together for awhile but broke up last year.

His death though, has a James Dean feel about it... at least for me. He's sort of mysterious and his life is not totally out there. His movies were just a handful but quite unforgettable. I love the chick-flick "10 Things I Hate About You" and "Knight's Tale". I'm looking forward to seeing him as Joker in "The Dark Knight" sequel to "Batman Begins". I'm sure he has reinvented the whole image of Joker. I did have a glimpse of the trailer and it looks... well, dark. Not your typical Batman.

Another one bites the dust... this was a surprise for me. What I've been waiting for to OD is Britney Spears. Not that I want her dead but I just don't expect her to live beyond 30. Maybe 27.

Formal Fashion

I've been going to a lot of weddings lately and I've kept to my wardrobe avoiding having clothes made or even buying new ones. Good thing I have still a number of cocktails and formal dresses I haven't worn before.

But I have still a few weddings lined up this year and I'm bent on having a few pieces made. I've mentioned before I'd like to have a flowy long evening dress in emerald green made. I was even more inspired to really go for it coz my friend's wedding yesterday was done in green and gold. I also saw a Lanvin asymmetrical dress on Katie Holmes recently (while visiting Chuvaness' site) and I'm thinking something like that in green... hmmm...

And I think I have the personality and the audacity to get away wearing pants in formal events. Hihi! I have this vision of going to an event ala-Christina Aguilera during the Grammy's in a white suite. Although I don't want to wear anything under the coat. I don't think I can away with THAT though.

Boink my camera

Ok, so my camera finally died on me. So sad! The worse part is I'm not sure if I can buy a new one anytime soon. I won't be receiving my salary for the next two paydays because I finally resigned. Sigh... so I have to wait. Good thing timing was right, I was at a friend's wedding and I still caught their first dance before my cam said farewell.

Oh, I bought a pair of black peep toes for the occasion. A Louboutin-wannabe from CMG (notice the red sole). Got it a good price too! It did cut off my leg circulation because of the height! Not used to running in really high heels anymore.

Life changing things...

As if getting married and cutting my hair to a bob isn't life changing enough, I am now moving from one financial institution to another. So many things happening and it's just the first month of the year! This is the news I've been holding back for a month already. It was just a couple of days ago I finally got the clearance to resign from my current job.

Valentine's Day is my last day. It's been a roller coaster ride for me for the past two years. But I can't say no to a better opportunity (I hope!) and better pay.

Alas, baby-making though will have to take a backseat for a few months. Just long enough til I become a permanent employee.

Sigh! That's life for now...

Honeymooning at Boracay

Loved that I got to spend a few days with my hubby away from busy Manila. Did the usual boat ride, snorkeling, smoothies at Jonah's and just lazing under the sun. It was totally fun!

We're planning for our next trip already!

Welcome to Hollywood!!!

It's back!!! It seems that the writers strike has no effect on American Idol. It's audition time again and I'm back to my anti-social self every Wednesdays and Thursdays. Good thing I'm married already... I don't have to worry about spending time with my man! We'll just stay at home and laugh at all the hilarious and weird auditions.

First stop is Philly... tomorrow is Texas. Yahoo!

Wedded Bliss

Tini and I forgot about the holidays being busy with our wedding last Sunday. Now that it's over, and now that I'm officially Mrs. Martin Gerard Navarro, we try to go back to our normal routine. Until the last relative leaves and until Tini has moved all his stuff here, including his pets, we are still in a bit of chaos. But so far so good.

Relatives made the craziness bearable. It was fun seeing cousins in varying ages hanging out and playing with each other. The older ones, that's me, Ian and my brother, taught the younger ones poker. Cousins from both father and mother side bonded well. Gazi, our half-fil and half-bahraini cousin kept the booze flowing. My brother kept the camera clicking and the aunts kept the kitchen busy.

Anyway, it's a bit late but Happy New Year to all! May the coming year be blessed with happiness!
