Evolution of Children's Parties

One of my favorite goddaughter is having her birthday party end of this month. I received the invitation already. She has a luau-themed party. I'm amazed by her mom's creativity! Check out the invites...

Birthday parties during my time (hey... that's just about more than a decade or so ago...) were not this elaborate! I remember my seventh brithday I had Ms. Piggy and Mickey Mouse mascots which didn't look much. I don't remember having a party host or magicians. And the games?! I just had palayok and pabitin! I didn't even have a them for my birthday! I remember my aunts from both sides of the family would travel all the way from Pampanga and Ilocos to help with the party, especially the cooking.

My goddaughter attended a classmate's seventh birthday. The girl had 7 wishes... like those done during debuts... 18 wishes! And the girls were made to wear gowns too!

Another friend had a party for her daughter when she turned three... she had mimes...

But don't think I won't be joining the trend... I already have a theme for my son's first birthday about 11 months from no... and I'm sure my mom will be happy to jump in and join in the planning!

Mommy BagHag

A few days ago, my guy friend who lives in Cebu asked me where to find great diaper bags coz he couldn't find nice ones in the malls there. I suggested Baby Couture. I have seen them in malls here in Manila and find their bags functional and fashionable. They're reasonably priced too!

We already have a diaper bag but since one is never enough for me, I'm thinking of getting a second one from Baby Couture.

For a more utilitarian style, I prefer these...

But when mommy wants to dress up, I'd rather tote these from their Mecca Collection...

Of course, I told my friend that diaper bags should be daddy-friendly. After all, when it's just the baby and parents at the mall, guess who usually carries the bag?! That's why our diaper bag is from Adidas coz hubby loves anything Adidas.

But if I had the cash... I'd check out Juicy Couture and Coach! Or maybe this one from Tod's (I saw this one at Tot Snob).

Then again, it's $1,350... imagine how many cans of milk I can buy with that?!

I say ZIPZ it!

Now that I have a baby, I now gravitate to the children's section of the department store longer than usual. But it's a good thing because I get to discover cool things like these!

Here's ZIPZ Shoes... another innovative idea kids and kids-at-heart would probably love! I know I would! The unique thing about this shoe is that the cover can be changed! Just zip it off! The covers come in a variety of colors and prints. Of course, there's also different ZIPZ styles: Toggle, Classic Slip-on,T-strap velcro, 2-strap velcro and Hi-tops.

Although found in the children's sections, there's sizes for adults too. These are a few of my favorites...

This means you can look like you have tons of shoes... and it will only occupy minimal storage space.

(Available in
Rustan's)

I love/hate her!

I have yet to buy my January issue of Preview. I really should get a subscription to save me the trouble of going to look for a copy every month...

Anyway, Kris Aquino is on the cover. Hay, she's one celebrity I love to hate and hate to love! Truly... she's kinda annoying and tackless-sa but I can't help but watch her! My husband hates it when I watch Deal or No Deal. Now I'm on maternity leave I watch Boy & Kris too!

I'm still cooped up at home. I feel guilty leaving the baby with the nanny, hence, the lack of fashion post.

Run Blairbitch! Run!

I have stopped making resolutions years and years ago. I don't follow them anyway. But this year, I'm so inspired to have a new year's resolution and follow through with it.

I wanna be fit, inspired by my significant weight loss since I gave birth more than three weeks ago. I wanna be fit and fab this year. I left the hospital at about 142-145lbs. During my visit to my doctor last Saturday, I was down to 120lbs although I still have my baby belly. It's the breastfeeding and the sleepless nights that did it.

I'm making a statement that I have to be back to my pre-pregnancy weight within the first half of the year (notice I'm giving myself a considerable amount of time! hahaha!). Along with this resolution, I'd like to try joining marathons. I did a 20k run in college for my P.E. class and I finished it! I think I can handle 5k or 10k runs now as long as I'm in shape.

I also miss doing yoga and dancing, maybe I'll do that too at least once a week. I don't want to spend to much time in the gym especially now with our little darling already here.

Maybe I'd be even more inspired with a hot looking outfit to go with a new pair of running shoes...

When I was a kid...

I wish there was still Sesame Street aired (or maybe there is I just don't know where and when...) here in the Phil so my son could enjoy it like I did when I was a kid... I love these clips! Making me nostalgic!

This one is a classic!!!

I want the clip of the guy in his trench coat selling some loot... can't seem to find that one.

I don't mind him watching our very own Batibot too!
