Sky High - inspired gown

Eversince I saw this movie I've always wanted the emerald green dress Layla (Danielle Panabaker) wore for the dance. The dress is actually a halter with the extra long gold straps crissed crossed at the back all they way to the front. It's a simple yet elegant dress. I'm thinking of having one made for a friend's wedding. Although I don't know if emerald green is good for my skin tone... and my fiance is also a true blue Atenean... green is a definite no-no.

Maybe I could pair this with strappy sandals... hmm...

Center for Aesthetic Studies (CAS) Cosmetology Courses (July Term)

The Center for Aesthetic Studies (CAS) will start the July term on July 2 (Monday). For those who are interested to turn their curiosity into a rewarding career, read on and check the courses being offered at CAS.

For the Diploma Course, the following are the subjects you need to take during the first three (3) months:

• Note: The Diploma Course may be finished within six (6) months or up to two (2) years

a. Hair Science (Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30am-12:00nn)
b. Hair Color & Technicals (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 10:00am-12:00nm)
c. Hair Sculpture & Design (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 3:00pm-7:00pm)
d. Moral Value Formation (Thursday, 1:00pm-3:00pm)
e. Intro to Beauty (Thursday, 3:00pm-5:00pm)

You’ll take the following remaining subjects during the next three (3) months (considering that you are planning to finish the Diploma Course within six (6) months):

a. Basic Make-Up (depends on your chosen schedule)
b. Basic Nail Care (Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00am-10:30am Practical, Tuesday 1:00pm-2:30pm Theory)
c. Basic Depilation (Tuesday and Thursday, 10:30am-12:00nn Practical, Tuesday 2:30pm-4:00pm Theory)
d. Introduction to Beauty (Thursday, 1:00pm-3:00pm)

If you're like me who loves heels but once in awhile needs the comforting feel of flat shoes, then this amazing shoes is for you. Dubbed as Camileon Heels, the heels convert from high to almost flat in seconds! Looking at the shoes, it may not be in the same level as a Louboutin, but this is great for those who value comfort a bit more than fashion.

The technology behind these shoes came from Dr. David Camileon who noticed women walking in New York in their fashionable clothes wearing sneakers. "If they can turn robots into high-performance vehicles, surely there must be a way to transform a high heel into a low-heeled, comfort version of the very same shoe." Dr. Camileon used his years of experience being a practicing diagnostic radiologist focusing on muscosloskeletal problems in developing his idea.

So, how does the mechanism work?

"Our revolutionary heel technology makes it possible for a shoe to adjust from a high-heeled position of 3¼" down to a 1½" low-heeled, walking-friendly shoe.

Our heel contains mechanisms that hold it into place for both the high heel and low heel positions and a stainless steel rod, which runs through the entire length of the heel. The portion of our heel that is stowed underneath the arch region of the shoe, when in the low heel position, is actually made out of aluminum. Additionally, every heel is coated with 6 coats of paint, resulting in a beautiful high-gloss finish. While essentially every other brand of high heel shoe attaches its heel to the shoe with nails, or nails and glue, we attach every heel with four screws.

We have developed our own unique foot form (known to footwear manufacturers as a "last") to construct our shoes. Our last, combined with supple Italian leathers and flexible leather soles, enable height adjustments to shoe while maintaining the integrity of the arch support. The remarkable accomplishment in the overall design and function of our shoes makes our shoes feel great in both the high and low heel positions.

The adjustment to heel height is made entirely without the need to remove the shoe from your foot, remove any shoe parts, or utilize any special tools. The resultant ability to vary heel height according to need or desire, and reduction of prolonged periods spent in the high heel position can lead to substantial positive effects for women who choose to wear high-heeled shoes."

It only takes 3 easy steps to add height or stay comfy...

Step 1
Secure one hand around the top of the heel, while the other hand pulls straight down on the lower half of the heel to disengage it from its upright locked position.

Step 2
Push forward on the lower portion of the heel until it stops moving and is stowed directly under the arch region of the shoe.

Step 3
Push straight backward on the tip of the stowed heel until it is recessed slightly into the upper heel cavity and secured in its locked position. Done!

Once the adjustment has been made from a high-to-low heel position, the upper edge of the stowed heel should no longer be visible. To restore the heel back into its full high heel position, simply reverse the previous steps.

Right now these are some of the styles available. Each style has two or three color options. Not bad really. Shoes average $300 a pair and available in various retail stores in the US.

...another one bites the dust...

Just a little over a year ago, one of our dear classmates in AIM passed away. Today, I received an email that Vikram Surana died because of an accident at his home in India.

MBA 2005 was a small class and although we all had our differences, we were pretty close to each other. It pains me that we lost another friend and at a very young age.

My thoughts and prayers go to Vikram's family and may his soul fly to the heavens in peace.
