HAVAIANAS + UAAP Season 75

I didn't realize how intense the Ateneo-DLSU rivalry was until I got into Ateneo. We were literally brainwashed. Part of our orientation was teaching the cheers... and teaching us that Blue is always better than Green.

Years after, I'm still loyal to Ateneo. Having married one true blue Atenean and having two sons, our small family's blood runs blue.

This Season 75 of UAAP, Havaianas further fuels school loyalty by coming out with limited edition pairs.

It's that time of the year again when the air is abuzz with school spirit! It’s the UAAP’s 75th season, and what makes this particular season even more exciting is the arrival of its hottest rookie to date, as Havaianas partners with the UAAP to release the much-awaited Limited Edition Havaianas + UAAP Special Collection, out in select Havaianas retailers in Metro Manila on July 6.

I have to say, I'm kinda liking UST's and NU's designs better... looks more exciting. But I'm definitely buying a pair. Even my hubby wants one! I'm planning to get my parents, alums from UP, Havies too.

I got info from an insider that it will be sold for P1195 (I hope I heard it right!) and comes with a bag.

MYOH 2012

It's that time of the year again when Havaianaticos troop to Rockwell for the Make Your Own Havaianas event. 

With new styles and pins to mix and match!

Summer won't be the same without MYOH!

Here's some reminders for the event. See you there!

• The event offers soles and straps in adult sizes only. Soles offered are Top, Slim, Fit, and MYOH Estampas in Top and Slim styles. Straps offered are Top, Top Metallic, Slim, and Fit.

• Cash and credit card (Visa and Mastercard) purchases are accepted. For Citibank credit cardholders, a 10% discount will be applied to your MYOH purchases each time you use your Citibank credit card for payment. Citibank cardholders may also opt to Pay Lite or Pay with Points.

• To serve all our customers, each Havaianatico is allowed to purchase a maximum of 5 pairs.

• For every purchase of one MYOH pair with one or more Happiness pins, Php 100.00 will be donated to Operation Smile Philippines*.

*Operation Smile Philippines is an international organization that provides safe and effective reconstructive surgery to children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate, bringing smiles on their faces.

My MYOH 2011 Pairs

Yesterday I went to MYOH event exclusive for HavLove members. I took advantage of the invite to avoid chaos and long lines I always experience at any MYOH event.

I took my time deciding what sole to pair with what strap and also what pin to put. 

Instead of the wheel, there soles are now lined up under a glass box with a crank you turn, while the straps are on top to mix and match.

My two pairs... since I couldn't decide...

I ended up buying both Estampas design. The slim had the Harajuku Doll (every pin sold, P100 is donated to the Japan earthquake thru Red Cross) while the tops had the metal barcode with MNL on it. My Havies are simple and no fuss. I want my pairs to match MOST of my clothes. 

And notice I only got two pairs?! After the event I texted my husband I was on my way home. He asked me, "Nakarami ka?" (Did you get a lot?). I texted back, "Define marami?! Nah, just got two pairs". I was surprised he just texted back "OK". 

The MYOH 2011 officially opens to the public today until May 16.

Havaianas to Hawaii

Wanna go to Hawaii? Grab a pair of Havaianas!

Havaianas is launching a year-long campaign called "Always Summer: Race to Hawaii". It's an adventure-race for two-member teams and they have to complete summer tasks to win their way to an all-expense-paid-trip to Hawaii! Where it's summer every day!

Mechanics below:

Filipino residents, 18 years old and above, fit to travel and engage in physical activities can join the contest by purchasing two pairs of Havaianas from February 4 2011 to March 27, 2011. This single-receipt purchase merits one scratch card that contains a unique code the participants can use to register in the website (www.havaianassummer.com).

All registered participants get a chance to win fun and fabulous prizes from partner brands like Sony, David & Goliath and Havaianas in the weekly draws, as well as the exclusive slots in the “Always Summer: Race to Hawaii” contest.

Regional legs will take place simultaneously all over the country and the top 20 teams will be flown to Boracay for the finals leg. All 20 teams will again compete in a series of summer tasks and the best time wins that trip to the beautiful islands of Hawaii.

Design a Smile winner is...

12-year old Meghan Sevilla

Among 200 entries, Meghan's design tops them all. Take a closer look...

According to the judges, her design is the most creative and the one that embodies the theme "What makes you smile?". And also it does say happiness all over, which is what Havaianas is all about. Her design will be produced and sold in stores. Portion of the proceeds will go to Operation Smile Philippines for their continuing advocacy to give all children with cleft palate a chance to smile!

Havaianas recently held a design competition for kids. The winning design will be used to produce limited edition pairs, sales of which will benefit the kids of Operation Smile - an organization who help children with cleft palate.

Havaianas 2011 Collection

As part of the Havaianaticos, I was invited to attend the pre-selling event of Havaianas highlighting the 2011 Collection set to come out this December. We got first dibs on some cool designs!

The event was held in Whitespace along Pasong Tamo. Although there were lots of people, the shopping experience was fun and easy. I brought my friend with me and I'm proud to say she bought more than I did!

Other Havaiaticos waiting in line... no hassle coz we were provided chairs. See the stuff in their baskets??? Panic-buying!

MYOH 2009

I was beginning to think they won't have a Make Your Own Havaianas event this year. Until I saw the billboard near Rockwell a couple of weeks ago. I waited for the newsletter. It finally arrived last today.

This year's MYOH will start on May 28 and end on June 1. Visit the Rockwell Tent during mall hours. I bet there'll be a line as early as 7am!!!

My feet are terribly swollen lately that I end up wearing flip flops most of the time... except at work. And now that the 2009 Collection of Havaianas are out already, I'm sooooo tempted to buy again!
