The Ultimate Sample Sale

The other day I received a text about a sample sale... got me super excited! But I vowed to curb on my shopping though. Oh well...

Here's a map to the venue:

Good thing I'll be in the area that day for work. Going to THAT office event on a Saturday and performing under the hot sun will not be so bad after all!

...because I'm chismosa...

Taken from Dolly Anne Carvajal's article in PDI today:

The concerned wife of a PBA player sent me this text message: “I’m not a Kris Aquino fan but since I’m also married to a PBA player, I understand what she’s going through. I see Mayen Austria at practice sessions of different PBA teams parading, with food as presents. She tries to befriend whoever player will spare her some attention. PBA wives despise her because she’s desperately seeking attention. This is in defense, not of Kris as the famous celeb that she is, but as Mrs. James Yap.”

I'm Team CoCo!!!

I don't know if you guys already heard of the NBC debacle happening right now. If not, here's the gist of it. So, Jay Leno left The Tonight Show and gave it to Conan O'Brien. This has been five years in the making. When it happened, Conan's show went to Jimmy Fallon and Conan got Jay's show. Jay Leno on the other hand was given a different show similar to The Tonight Show but on an earlier time slot. NBC decided to remove the drama series to cut cost. It was cheaper to do a tlkshow than a whole tv series.

But Jay's show was not rating and now it seems that the bigwigs in NBC are giving back Jay his show leaving Conan with nothing! Ack! Anyway, for the whole story, click here and here.

Eversince this hulabaloo came out, fans of Conan have banded together to show their support. Heard they're even planning a rally.

The other night, Jay Leno had Jimmy Kimmel (Jimmy Kimmel Live shown at ABC) on his show via live-feed. During the interview, Jimmy makes several jokes at Jay's expense. Hilarious! But it was quite a hit... my favorite was when Jimmy says: "Listen, Jay, Conan (O'Brien) and I have children. All you have to take care of is cars. We have lives to lead here. You have $800 million. For God's sake, leave our shows alone!"

Watch the video...

I love it! Go Jimmy!

Personally, I'm Team CoCo. I have more laughs watching him than I do Jay Leno.

And the winner goes to...

It's award season once again... which means fashion season too. Here are my favorites at yesterday's Golden Globe.

Sandra Bullock - love the almost transparent effect of her gown

Toni Collete

Kate Winslet

Drew Barrymore

Let's do a few men this time...

Chace Crawford

Taylor Lautner - bite me you werewolf!!!

Loved that Glee won Best TV Series: Comedy/Musical, beating 30Rock. For the complete winner list, click here.

Reel or Real?

I bought this month's Mega Magazine and I was disappointed with the cover. I'm sorry but I'm not a fan of Erich Gonzales. Something's off with her acting. And I think her boobs are weird...

Good thing it's covered here but when she wears plunging neckline, I find it too plump!

Granted it's all natural and she's really blessed... does it always have to look so pushed together???

I'm just saying it looks fake tuloy.

Not Again?!

On our way to Pampanga yesterday, my bff was telling me about the new chismis on Kris Aquino. That she purportedly made sugod a girl who was calling his husband, James Yap. We had to Google it coz we were curious...

From Ricky Lo's article we saw this:
Last Wednesday (Jan. 13) at around 5: 30 p.m., I got the following text message from a friend: May sinugod na babae si Kris Aquino sa Valle Verde...pinagsuspetsahan daw ‘yung babae na girlfriend ni James (Yap, Kris’ husband)... Paki-verify.

My first impulse was to call Kris but either she “cannot be reached” or “the person you’re calling is out of coverage area.”

So I did the next best thing: Mobilize the Funfare mole code-named Jumpy Kangaroo (deeply imbedded in the Aquino-Yap household) to check posthaste. Here’s his report:

Kris and James were having a late lunch at 2 p.m. that day when James’ celfon rang. The caller was a girl, crying, and saying, “I did everything already...” blah-blah-blah. Kris did what any wife would do (and considering that she and James have just survived a “Lovers’ Quarrel” sorted out during a post-Christmas family trip to Bangkok): she asked James who the girl was and why she’s crying on his shoulder. James had hung up after telling the girl that he’d call her later.

A little discussion (not an argument) followed during which James told Kris that the girl was having a problem with her boyfriend (somebody else) and that the girl has been his long-time (Purefoods) fan. Like any puzzled wife, Kris asked James, “Why would she be crying on your shoulder, for that matter on a man she knows very well who is very much married?” Normal reaction, wasn’t it?

For quite a time now, the girl has been sending James chocolates or cakes or other goodies, addressed only to James, making Kris wonder, “If she can’t write my name or those of our children, why doesn’t she just address them to ‘James and Family’ para naman mawala ang suspicion?”

The little incident didn’t end there.

While being made up for the day’s work by Bambbi Fuentes, she got a “forwarded” text message (from where, it wasn’t made clear), purportedly from James who was telling the girl to just say sorry to Kris “at nang matapos na lahat.” That made Kris even more suspicious. Any wife would react the same way, right?

So Kris decided to drop by the girl’s house (also in Valle Verde) where the girl’s mom very nicely met her. Kris politely turned down the mom’s invitation”to come in” and simply, very politely, told the mom the whole incident. Kris never raised her voice (unlike perhaps most “aggrieved” wives); she was calm as she reminded the mom that she and James are working very hard at saving their marriage and calls or text messages from “any girl” to James is the last thing that they wanted especially at this stage when they (Kris and James) have just patched things up.

Kris didn’t make sugod the girl. She only wanted to relay to the girl the message that she should refrain from calling or texting James since James is very much married and it doesn’t look good for her to be doing that. Siempre naman, kahit sinong wife ay hindi matutuwa sa ganoon.

(Note: I asked Jumpy Kangaroo what the moral of the story is and he said, “Huwag po magti-text or tatawag sa isang lalaking may-asawa. ‘Yon lang po.” Wives out there, agree or disagree?)

Now it's a She said-She said thing with one camp saying there were bad words thrown by Kris. And the other camp saying it was a peaceful encounter.

Ano ba yan...! Para naman they forgot na about the incident three(?) years ago before Baby James was born...the one about the staff of Vicky Belo who called James Yap "Big Bird". And the Krista-Manny-Jinkee issue is still fresh on everybody's mind. Mga girls, stay away from James na kasi, whether as friends or not. And Kris should be careful, now is not the best time to court bad publicity epecially with Kuya Noy running for president.

Hay, I have to be home by 4pm to watch the Buzz! This could be juicy!

Clinique Clinic

Lately I've been really making an effort to put on make up for work. My lovely cousin, Dien, from the US sent me some beauty loot when her mom came over. Last time I was there she introduced me to some of her favorite Clinique items. Personally, I'm a MAC girl, but anything kikay, I'll try.

I used to use Clinique facepowder years ago. It was prescribed by my derma. But then eventually shifted to MAC. Now I'd like to get some more Clinique loot!

One thing I can't live without are blushes and lipstick/lipgloss. My cousin sent a sample of Blushwear Cream Stick to our cousin-in-law (to be) and I was sooooo jealous! It's so easy to use and stays long too! The color looks great on her too. Our in-law just needs to learn how to put it on properly...hehe... This is not available yet in Philippines though. Too bad.

Then she also got me this Long Last Glosswear SPF15 the last time I visited her. I'm amazed it does last long! Problem is the Fireberry shade is not available here in the Philippines... boo! We need to tell Dien to bring us some when she visits.

Sigh! I'm really missing Sephora now...I'm checking online and everything seems cheaper!

Simon says: Goodbye!

Speaking of Simon Cowell... what's this I see?! Simon to say adios to Am-Idol already?! Ano ba yan! This season's show hasn't started yet and we already have another judge leaving the show?! Yahoo! news reports that this will be Cowell's last season...

"Simon Cowell, the acerbic Brit who has helped give "American Idol" some of its sharpest — and nastiest — moments, will leave the hit TV singing contest after this season.

The cantankerous judge said Monday that "The X Factor," a talent show he created and which is popular in Britain, will join Fox's schedule next year. Cowell will be a judge on "The X Factor" and its executive producer.

Cowell's decision is the biggest threat yet to what has consistently been the country's top-rated TV program and a true cultural force. This season, original host Paula Abdul has been replaced by Ellen DeGeneres.

But Cowell, with his caustic commentary, has long been seen as the big star of "Idol."

He said it would have been difficult for him to do both shows. While he makes a reported $36 million a year to be on "American Idol," he owns "The X Factor" and could make much more if the show takes off.

Cowell and top Fox executives made the announcement to reporters in Pasadena at a meeting of the Television Critics Association; they said they had reached an agreement only a few hours before.

"I was offered a lot of money to stay on," Cowell said. "But that wasn't the reason behind it. I wanted to do something different. I wanted a new challenge."

Awww... that's so sad! What will happen to Idol without you Simon?! Well, in the meantime, let's check out how Ellen will fare this season as replacement to Paula Abdul...

No-show Showtime

The office today was talking about the suspension of Showtime because of the inappropriate stuff Osang said about teachers. A day after her outburst, ABS-CBN already took her out of the show but MTRCB wasn't satisfied and slapped the show with a 20-day suspension. Bad trip noh?! She's a guest judge lang naman. I was surprised about the suspension and was a bit miffed about it since I haven't seen one episode of this show. I've been very busy since the holidays and couldn't catch the show during weekends.

The concept is pretty generic. It's a talent contest and there's no restrictions on what talent you can share. The popularity of the show can be attributed to Vice Ganda, the very funny judge on the show. His no Simon Cowell, but he makes everyone laugh with his witty remarks. He's such a hit! When we told my Aunt from the US who subscribes to TFC  that we'll be bringing her to a comedy bar, she said she wants to go where Vice Ganda performs.

Anyway, the clip is here. Personally I think Osang's words were indeed uncalled for. You be the judge... You can also read the rest of the article here.

HELP! Looking for Korean hair products!

My cousin-in-law is in Korea. He's with the US Army. He'll be coming over in a couple of months and I know there's great Korean hair products - shampoo and conditioner - and my mom and I would like to get our hands on some. But what brand????!!!!

Our Korean hairstylist from Shine Girls sold my mom a shampoo and conditioner for colored hair and it was really great on our hair. But since the words are in Korean, couldn't figure out the brand. And our stylist doesn't talk English very well.

Recommend please so he can get us some.

New 'Do'

My blog is sporting a new 'do'. Finally found time to blog at home so decided to change the look. It's already 2010 after all...

Although I'm still trying to work out the kinks in the template. I'm not so techie and I'm having a hard time. My internet connection is pretty slow too.

The Purple Giant

Gosh, my son is totally addicted to Barney. He started watching the dvds when he was four to six months old and he loves it! He's fixated on the screen whenever we put it on.

What's up with this purple dino?!!! I remember my younger cousins loving him too...

But my boy loves BJ the most. He even got a big BJ stuff toy from one of his grand aunts.

Last Christmas we gave him five new Barney dvds...coz I've memorized all the songs in the other dvds.

I wish there was still Sesame Street, or even Batibot, on t.v.

Incidentally... there's several videos with Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato as part of Barney's friends.

Jinkee in this corner...!!!

I grabbed a copy of the December issue of YES! Magazine the other day while running errands. While my son slept I read all 50 pages of the tell-all interview. The news of the Manny-Krista affair has died down a bit but I think with this interview, the interest will befueled again. Jinkee comes out with both her fists ready to fight talaga! Parang it belied everything Manny and Krista denied!

Plus, in this month’s issue of Preview, those on Team Jinkee will be happy to see her on the cover all dolled up!

Years ago I worked the night shift of an American airline as a customer service representative. They would arrive on our flight without all the frenzy yet. Manny Pacquiao used to do pre-bout fights then and Jinkee would travel with him. She looked dawdy in bootleg pants and platform shoes with fitting shirts. Her hair looked like it was bleached with agua oxenada!

Look at her now!!!

The saying…”kasalanan na lang maging pangit ang may pera” is sooooooo true…
